About Us

It all started in 1988. At 14 years old, I (Pamela) decided drinking coffee was the ultimate sign of adulthood, initiating an unbreakable habit.

My college years were a wild west of questionable caffeinated decisions. I drank whatever mysterious brown liquid was within arm’s reach—lukewarm church coffee, scorched gas station brews, cafeteria mystery drip, and whatever sad, pre-ground bag was cheapest at the grocery store. I look back on those survival days with a grin; they built character (and stomach lining).

Once married (1997), I gently coaxed my husband, Ryan, toward the dark side—or, more accurately, the medium roast side. He agreed to partake, but with one rigid ground rule: "Only on Saturdays." That resolve lasted all of a few months before he completely caved, joining me daily.

Feeling sophisticated, we eventually upgraded to "flavored beans." That brief romance ended in sheer horror when we learned those delicious flavors were actually greasy oils poured over the beans post-roast—a discovery brought to us by a sudden wave of brutal heartburn.

The quest for clean coffee led us to an exceptional roaster (thanks, DS!). The catch? They were too far away, meaning pricey online orders and eye-watering shipping fees. Naturally, we used flawed human logic to fix this: we bought in massive bulk to "justify" the shipping. Months later, as we choked down the tail end of that ancient haul, we realized stale "exceptional" coffee isn't so exceptional after all.

Then came 2022. We discovered our neighbor, TK, had his own roaster and sold freshly roasted beans! Even better, TK eventually invited us to try roasting on his setup. Geeking out with excitement, we dropped $300 on a massive 44-pound bag of raw Costa Rican green coffee beans. We sweat bullets (for fear of ruining his machine and destroying our investment) as we carefully followed his prescribed method and the end result was an intoxicating aroma and a mind blowing cup!  We were hooked!

In the fall of 2025, it became clear that we would need our own roaster and so we began researching and made our purchase in early 2026.  At first we were only going to roast for family and friends but Pamela suggested we make a go of micro roasting for more people in our area.  We spent the next four months waiting on production and shipping, checking for a tracking number daily. After its arrival and uncrating, our kids were happy to help us sample our test roasts!

Our coffee-loving crew currently includes our four adult kids, three beloved in-laws, and our very first next-gen coffee (or tea!) enthusiast arriving in January 2027!!! Our favorite tradition is "Coffee on the Couches"—a priceless morning routine where jammies are mandatory, the conversation flows, and we welcome the day oh-so-slowly over our favorite mugs. Our coffee loving kids inspire bougie brewing methods, hand-courier green coffee from far-flung travels, and lend their expertise with design and marketing.

605...if you know, you're basically family.  If you don't, we just haven't been introduced yet!  605 is the area code for the ENTIRE beautiful state of South Dakota, our home.  Our desire is to provide our region of 605 with an exceptionally fresh and amazingly flavorful coffee bean experience so you can curate your best cup.

We’ve come a long way from programmable drip pots and pre-ground budget bags. Today, we’re constantly learning—exploring specialty beans, Fair Trade Organic, and woman-produced crops, all while honoring the incredible farmers who grow them. The humble coffee bean is a delicious gift from God, and we’re just getting started… one freshly roasted batch at a time.
